Editorial Leadership

Meet Our Editorial Team

We publish original research or new developments across all IEEE fields of interest with an average submission-to-publication time of 4 to 6 weeks. Our editorial team consists of the Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board, Senior Editors and Associate Editors—all volunteers, they are experts in their fields with experience in research and publishing.

Editor-in-Chief (EIC)

Our editor-in-chief is responsible for the overall direction of the journal, ensuring that work published is of the highest quality, meeting publication policies and procedures of IEEE, and carrying out the editorial mission. The EIC is also a member of the Editorial Board.

Editorial Board

Hailing from well-respected institutions worldwide, our editorial board members are IEEE Life Fellows, IEEE Fellows, or IEEE Senior Members and are recognized as technical experts in their fields.

The IEEE Access Editorial Board is an organizational unit of, and reports to, IEEE’s Publications Services and Products Board (PSPB), and responsible for overseeing and carrying out our editorial mission:

  • To provide an IEEE-wide, interdisciplinary, electronic-only journal that features standardized peer review, editorial selection and rapid publication processes.
  • Submissions shall be primarily judged on the technical presentation of the author’s original work and its interest to readers.
  • Editors shall encourage the submission of practical articles dealing with experimental methods, technology applications and manufacturing techniques.
  • In addition, IEEE Access shall be completely open access, as operations will be supported by article processing charges paid by authors (or their funders/employers), and all readers can access articles without payment.

Senior Editors

IEEE Access Senior Editors are IEEE Fellows or experienced IEEE Senior Members who are highly accomplished in their respective fields in terms of technical publication. Senior Editors directly assist the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, and Associate Editors with making decisions that ensure the publication maintains the highest quality while adhering to the publication policies and procedures of IEEE. At IEEE Access, we have 60+ senior editors from institutions around the world volunteering for this role.

Associate Editors

The IEEE Access Associate Editors are responsible for ensuring that the publication maintains the highest quality while adhering to the publication policies and procedures of IEEE. Their work includes coordinating the peer review process, selecting relevant reviewers who are capable of providing critical, detailed feedback, ensuring that only high-quality articles are published, and maintaining our expedited peer review process of 4 to 6 weeks. At IEEE Access, we have several hundred associate editors from institutions around the world volunteering for this role.

Congratulations to the 2024 IEEE Access Outstanding Associate Editors!

Recognized for outstanding contributions to IEEE Access throughout 2024, these associate editors have directly contributed to the tremendous growth of IEEE Access and assisted the journal in upholding high publication standards.
