The Rapid Peer Review Advantage

Receive an accept/reject decision in 4 weeks

On average, the IEEE Access binary peer review process takes 4 weeks from submission to an accept/reject decision notification. Submission to publication time typically takes 4 to 6 weeks, depending on how long it takes the authors to submit final files after they receive the accept/reject notification.

What is a binary peer review?

Binary peer review combines the rigor of peer review with the speed of open-access publishing. Authors will receive an accept or reject decision after the article has completed peer review. If the article is rejected for publication, the reasons will be explained to the author. If the article is accepted, authors are able to make minor edits to their articles based on reviewers’ comments before publication.

A multidisciplinary open access journal that’s worthy of IEEE

To ensure all articles meet the trusted and respected high standards of IEEE publications, they undergo a rigorous peer-review process to assess the originality and technical correctness of the article. The acceptance rate for IEEE Access is similar to traditional IEEE journals.

The articles in this journal are peer reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE Publication Services and Products Board Operations Manual. Each published article was reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-blind peer-review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance.

Author satisfaction survey results

Based on a recent 2019 survey of IEEE Access authors in which 166 responded; 97% of authors stated that they were satisfied with the overall publishing experience with IEEE Access, 2.5 % were neutral and 0.6% were not satisfied.
