IEEE Access welcomes new Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Derek Abbott

As of January 1, 2019, IEEE Access would like to welcome our new Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Derek Abbott. Prof. Abbott is an IEEE Fellow (2005), and has been with The University of Adelaide, Australia since 1987, where he is currently a Full Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Prof. Abbott has been a member of the IEEE Access Editorial Board, as well as an IEEE Access Associate Editor since 2015. He was also one of the award recipients for “IEEE Access Outstanding Associate Editors of 2017″.

We look forward to working with Prof. Abbott and utilizing his expertise to continue the success of IEEE Access.

IEEE Access recognizes Dr. Michael Pecht for 6 years of outstanding service

IEEE Access would like to thank our former Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Michael Pecht, for 6 years of outstanding service. We are extremely grateful for his leadership and expertise founding and growing IEEE Access to be the largest open access journal of the IEEE.

IEEE Access Article Awarded First Prize for Outstanding Research Articles in Biosurveillance

IEEE Access is extremely proud to announce that one of its published articles won first prize in the 2019 Awards for Outstanding Research Articles in Biosurveillance (Impact on Field of Biosurveillance Category) given by the International Society for Disease Surveillance. The article by Brenas, Al-Manir, Baker, & Shaban-Nejad entitled, “A Malaria Analytics Framework to Support Evolution and Interoperability of Global Health Surveillance Systems” was published in October 2017.

This prestigious award was presented by the International Society for Disease Surveillance, the premier organization dedicated to the advancement of the science and practice of biosurveillance. The award was created to recognize professionals and scientists of diseases surveillance for their outstanding contributions to this area of research.

IEEE Access has an impact factor of 3.557, an Eigenfactor of 0.0186, and an article influence score of 1.098 (per 2017 JCR).

IEEE Access Supports Code Ocean and IEEE DataPort

IEEE Access accepts supplemental material (code, data, video, etc.) with all article submissions. Should your article be accepted for publication, all supplemental material will be posted on IEEE Xplore with your published article under the “media” tab.

For large code associated with articles, authors can utilize Code Ocean which is a cloud-based computational reproducibility platform, integrated with IEEE Xplore that enables IEEE authors to publish their executable code associated with research articles. Code may be uploaded at submission, revision or after acceptance of the article at no cost. For more information on Code Ocean, please click here.

For large data sets, IEEE Access now supports IEEE DataPort, which is a repository of datasets and data analysis tools. The repository is designed to accept all types of datasets, including Big Data datasets up to 2TB, and it provides both downloading capabilities and access to Cloud services to enable data analysis in the Cloud.
