Mobile Multimedia for Healthcare

Submission Deadline: 30 July 2018

IEEE Access invites manuscript submissions in the area of Mobile Multimedia for Healthcare.

With the availability of easy access to the Internet and the proliferation of various mobile devices, people can get access to mobile multimedia from anywhere, at anytime, from many devices in order to have a desktop experience. Mobile multimedia refers to different types of multimedia content (e.g., text, images, audios and videos), which are accessed via heterogeneous mobile devices such as mobile phones, portable devices, and smartphones. Mobile multimedia services and applications have a tremendous potential in the healthcare sector. Currently, as the healthcare sector is increasingly dependent on mobile multimedia services and applications, many challenges remain unsolved for the successful deployment of mobile multimedia services in order to have a balance between power-limited mobile devices and resource hungry medical multimedia content (e.g. x-ray, MRI, clinical audio-visual notes, EEG, ECG and so on). The mobile devices offer unprecedented insight into patient health and a clear demand for a better-quality experience for its employees. Researchers are working in developing various mobile multimedia tools, techniques, and services to support better health initiatives to complement the classic scenario with mobile technology. In particular, works in the tracking of spreadable diseases, remote monitoring and diagnosis, real-time remote access to medical images and videos, m-health and finally deep learning analytics for mobile multimedia are of great interest.

This Special Section in IEEE Access aims to bring together researchers, and practitioners to discuss various research and development achievements in the field of related techniques, applications, services and systems for mobile multimedia for healthcare.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Socially-aware mobile media for healthcare
  • Mobile cloud-media for the healthcare
  • Mobile multimedia information systems in healthcare
  • Serious Games for health
  • Application of mobile media services in healthcare
  • Interactive and emotion-aware mobile healthcare systems
  • IoT- cloud convergence for mobile healthcare
  • Smart Sensor technologies for mobile health
  • mobile health monitoring
  • Mobile Health record management
  • Context-aware mobile-health services and application
  • Elderly smart health monitoring environments
  • Real time multimedia-control for mobile healthcare
  • Deep learning analytics for mobile multimedia-based healthcare or food recognition

We also highly recommend the submission of multimedia with each article as it significantly increases the visibility, downloads, and citations of articles.
