Zhihua Qu is the Thomas J. Riordan and Herbert C. Towle Chair and Pegasus Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Central Florida. He served as the chair of ECE Department and is currently and the Director of RISES, university research center on energy systems.

Professor Qu is active in several societies of IEEE and in ECEDHA and NSF’s ERVA. His areas of expertise are nonlinear systems and control, with applications to autonomous systems and energy/power systems. His most recent work focuses upon cooperative control and plug-and-play operation of networked systems, distributed optimization and game algorithms, and resilient networked controls. He is the recipient of several awards, including Robert  M.  Janowiak  Outstanding  Leadership  and  Service  Award from ECEDHA.

He is an IEEE Fellow for his contributions to nonlinear control theory, robust control designs, robotics, and cooperative control of autonomous systems. He is also an AAAS Fellow for his contributions to multiagent systems and energy systems.
