Mitra Mirhassani is an Electrical and Computer Engineering professor at the University of Windsor. She is co-director of SHIELD Automotive Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, Canada’s first and only academic centre dedicated to research and innovation in the automobile cybersecurity sector. She was the advisor to the WiCyS (Women in Cybersecurity) Windsor chapter in 2019 and earned the leadership award for the group’s activity in promoting the field in 2020. She was recognized as one of the Top Women in Cybersecurity by IT World Canada in 2020 and won the 2020 Outstanding Achievement Award and the 2021 Donald S. Wood Leadership Award in Cybersecurity from the APMA. She is a senior member of IEEE and is an associate editor of IEEE Access, Frontiers Neuroinformatics, and Frontiers Computational Neuroscience Journals.
