Farid Boussaid received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the National Institute of Applied Science (INSA), in Toulouse, France, in 1996 and 1999 respectively. In 2000, he joined Edith Cowan University (ECU), as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow and became a member of the Visual Information Processing Research Group. In 2005, he joined The University of Western Australia (UWA) as a lecturer. He is currently a Professor in the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering.
Prof. Farid Boussaid has published over 160 papers and received five international Best Paper Awards. His work has been recognized with fellowships from the Australian Research Council and National Science Foundation. In 2016, he was recognized for his dedication to high-quality teaching with a citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning by the Australian Department of Education and Training. From 2014-2017, he served as Head of the School of Electrical, Electronic, & Computer Engineering at UWA. His current research interests include smart sensors, computer vision and machine learning.
